Mission

Political Scientists for Sustainability encourages environmentally responsible practices in our profession.  We believe that as individuals and as a community we should do our part to avoid contributing to the climate and environmental harms that threaten our species and the natural world.  We seek to maximize the scholarly value of our activities, while minimizing harm to others and striving to make our profession a more equitable, just, and accessible community for all, regardless of income, access to resources, geographic location, ability, or identity.

Activities

Campaigns
Our efforts are currently focused on the Fly Less, Connect Better petition. The petition calls on the four largest U.S. political science associations (APSA, MPSA, SPSA, and WPSA) to adopt a four-year trial of alternating between in-person and fully online conferences, in order to lower the climate harms of our activities and create more inclusive conference spaces.
